Cedar & Stone materials — cedar, fieldstone, brass, sage

About

Our Story

Cedar & Stone is a multi-entity institution rooted in Pendleton, Oregon. We build brands rooted in material honesty, craft, and an abiding commitment to place.

The name comes from two materials that define the high desert West — the warmth of old-growth cedar, and the permanence of volcanic fieldstone. Together, they represent what we value: things that are made from somewhere, that age honestly, and that repay attention over time.

We are not a single company but an ecosystem — three distinct arms united beneath a shared governing doctrine and a unified aesthetic identity. Every decision made in the name of Cedar & Stone should feel traceable to the values encoded in our foundation: craft, honesty, place, and continuity.

The Institution

The Atelier

The commercial and creative engine. A fragrance boutique and working studio on Main Street, Pendleton. The Atelier funds the broader institution and is the public face of Cedar & Stone’s craft philosophy.

Voice: warm, sensory, and unhurried.

The Foundation

The philanthropic arm. Focused on community land stewardship, anti-displacement strategies, and the long-term civic health of Pendleton and the surrounding region. Operates in close relationship with the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation.

Voice: honest, grounded, and civic.

The Institute

The educational arm. Develops programming in craft, ecology, land stewardship, and regional history. A bridge between the Atelier’s practical knowledge and the Foundation’s community commitments.

Voice: thoughtful, rigorous, and accessible.

Our Values

Grounded

Rooted in place, material, and practice. Never abstract for abstraction’s sake.

Precise

We choose words carefully. Every product name, every headline, every label deserves considered language.

Unhurried

We do not chase urgency. Cedar & Stone communicates in a register that assumes the reader has time to read.

Honest

We do not make claims we cannot support. We do not round up. We acknowledge complexity.
